The 2016 Homeschooling in Romania Study conducted by MKOR Consulting led to a series of at least interesting conclusions regarding this highly controversial type of education.
The study was conducted between September 19 and 22, 2016, in the form of an online opinion poll, with a total of 1,710 respondents.
We observed a high level of interest in the topic of homeschooling in Romania, with a very large number of people responding to our invitation, which was promoted on parenting groups with the help of two blogs addressed to them (we thank Ioana Macoveiciuc and Andreea Constantin).
Our initiative received an impressive number of responses from parents interested in expressing their opinions on this subject within an organized framework.
Respondents
Profilul dominant al respondentilor is represented by people with children (85%), female (91%), with higher education (university and above – 93%), from urban areas (95%, of which 48% from Bucharest), age segment 25-44 years (93%).
Romanians’ perception of homeschooling
The vast majority of respondents — 95% — have heard of homeschooling, and 73% know about the existence of umbrella schools. The entire study shows a high interest in considering homeschooling as an alternative for children’s education.
What will you find out from the report?
- What are the motivations for which parents have chosen or would consider homeschooling?
- What are the motivations for which parents would not consider homeschooling?
- Is homeschooling viable in Romania?
- Should homeschooling be legally regulated in Romania?
MKOR Consulting would like to thank all respondents involved in conducting this study, as well as those involved in the dissemination and promotion of the study from the data collection stage to the dissemination and publication of the results.
